Second Chances
Maybe you have been or are currently
participating in sexual activity. It is not too late to make a
fresh start. God is a God of forgiveness
(1 John 1:9; John 8:1-11). He also gives us power and grace to
live a pure life.
(2 Thessalonians 1:11-12) He has made a way
for us
to be washed clean and to start fresh.
A Fresh Start
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE to make a fresh
start! Maybe, you have already had sex, or you have engaged in
other forms of sexual
arousal or
gratification and feel like giving in has spoiled your chances.
Many people realize they weren’t ready for sex and choose
to start over. Starting now, you can make healthy choices and
decide to stop
sexual activity. It’s not easy to stop, but with God’s
help and self-control, it can be a reality. Deciding to start
over is the hardest part. Reclaim your sexual integrity. “Renewed
abstinence” means that you care enough about yourself
and your future to save sex for the right person at the right
time- marriage.
Your decision to choose to wait for marriage shows others that
you value the gift of yourself.
This commitment may include:
- Communicating your standards and commitment to your friends
- Avoiding compromising situations.
- Finding non-sexual ways to show you care.
- Not judging your future by your past—NO
MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE, you can make a change and find forgiveness!
Take a Stand!
Let your character and your decisions
speak out loud. Your character is who you are when you're by yourself
(when no one's looking
or judging you). Make a decision
to take charge of YOUR life and let those decisions shape who you are.
It doesn't matter whether you are a virgin trying to stand your
ground or a secondary
virgin who is making good, healthy decisions to say, "no,
not me, not now." Make
plans for your future and tell a good, trusted friend or mentor. The decisions
you make now will affect your life forever...choose to have sexual integrity. |
