| Character
Matters!
Who are you when no one’s looking?
Your character is revealed by what
you do when no one is looking. Your actions towards others will
often reveal who you really are.
Good character includes the kind of
qualities we see in a good friend.
When we live a life that is opposite from good character, we
become selfish. If we are motivated by selfishness, our relationship
will suffer. Selfishness includes having to have your own way
all the time and having a “me first” attitude. If
you had a “friend” who was like this,
would you hang around them for very long?
We have identified some core traits
that we believe will help you to relate well to others.
- Empathy -Putting yourself in someone else’s
shoes
- Forgiveness - Letting go and letting God take care of the wrong
done to you
- Gratitude - Being thankful or grateful for what you have been given
- Honesty - Being truthful
- Humility - Not seeing yourself as better than someone else
- Perseverance - Standing strong in tough times
- Respect - Valuing yourself and others
- Responsibility - Being dependable, reliable and trustworthy
in regards to your
commitments
- Self-control - Having control over your actions and reactions
You have the freedom
to choose the kind of person you are going to be.
Who you are going to be is determined by the daily choices you
make.
We encourage you to make good choices and to take responsibility
for your own actions.
“Character
is what one is; reputation
is what one is thought to be by others”
